REQUIRED ACADEMIC / EDUCATION BACKGROUND / FORMER EXPERIENCE

- HND (High National Diploma) in Mechanics.

- Senior secondary school with at least 5 years practice experience of heavy duty mechanic.

- Other Professional mechanic certificate.

- Driving license.

- Good written and oral communication in English and French.

COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE

-The workshop mechanic will be operating from the company storage site near the port and will report to the transport and workshop manager.

- He will have at least 10 years of experience in a similar position within heavy duty equipment garage or in trucking company.

- Excellent knowledge of Caterpillar, Cummins, and the main brands of trucks operating in Cameroon.

- Expert in auto and heavy construction mechanics.

- Good knowledge of electrical systems for trucks and utility vehicles.

- Excellent knowledge of diesel and petrol engines repair.

- Respectful of safety procedures and concerns for the team.

- High moral standard, dedicated, serious and respectful of hierarchy.

DETAILED TASKS

- Carry out any standard duties as instructed by workshop Manager.

- Carry out daily and weekly preventive maintenance checks according to manufacture recommendations.

- Carry out equipment services according to manufacture recommendation and major repairs.

- Complete and hand in accurate job cards to the workshop Manager daily.

- Check and report any damage and abuse of equipment to the workshop Manager.

- Check and monitor service intervals and report to the workshop Manager weekly.

- Ensure drivers and operators are completing their daily equipment checklist on time and accurately.

- Ensure the good functioning of equipment, hydraulic tools, pneumatics, and identify technical solutions to repair them.

- Maintain spare parts list.

- Maintain and take good care of tools and working equipments at his disposal.

- Lubrication and cleaning of machines and engines.
